We all know the saying “Laughter is the best medicine.” I always felt that’s a bit of an exaggeration. Back in high school I had my appendix removed and laughing was definitely not the best medicine after the operation as the wound would open up when I’d laugh hard and bleed a bit.
Today though, I thought about the saying when Elian made me laugh uncontrollably this afternoon. I don’t really know what I found funny like I think he was using my knees to climb up the bed so he can breastfeed and he was doing it in a manner as if he was really struggling but it was obvious he was just acting up. I know this because he made this whiny sound as he climbed the first time, went down on purpose only to make the whiny sound again as he used my knees to “struggle” to climb up yet again. Then right after doing it the second time he burst out laughing his big laugh while still trying to make the whiny sound but he couldn’t keep up the charade that’s why he ended up laughing.
That laugh of his always gets me and it helped today especially dealing with the post-op discomfort the whole day. He’s really our little bundle of joy and I just love all the times he makes me laugh uncontrollably. And that’s no exaggeration.
